Frances Berry is a photographer and college artist in Memphis, Tennessee. She went to University of Alabama in 2008 and her work was presented at the 2014 Biennial Road show in Marfa, Texas, The Los angeles center for Digital Art as well as galleries around memphis. She said 'In my work, I seek to create alternatives to the traditional snapshot that reinforce rather than destroy our internal visualization of time so that one may revisit a moment in a more authentic and meaningful way' this shows how she tires to capture the same picture as anyone could take but have a completely different final image showing the vast amount of variations of a landscape in the same image.
For this contact sheet it consists of people lay down on a bench with their hair in the wind and so without the bench it would give them the effect that they are floating. I also took pictures of buildings so i could place the people in front of the building to give them a falling effect.
Edits
These first edits are made through cutting the people out of the images with them lay on the bench on the field. I then took the images of the tall buildings and stretched the top half on photoshop to distort them giving them a similar look to the images thatg francis berry presents, finally i added the people to the images giving them the falling effect.
Finally i used photoshop again to remove the person from the first image, i then printed off the building image and scanned it back onto the computer but as it was scanned i dragged the image up giving it a more distorted stretched look like francis' images. i then cut the top half of the stretched building and layered it over the same image but not stretched and rubbed through to blend them together before finally adding the person over both layers.
To create these images i printed off my previous edits without the people on and printed them out separately. for the first and second picture i used foam sticky pads to stick them onto the image giving them a shadow effect however for the third i attached the person with a piece of thread to the top of the image which wasn't as effective therefor for my final piece i will print off a larger version of one of the stretched buildings and attach a person with foam sticky pads.
